Trama

Kate e John hanno appena perso Jessica, la loro terza figlia, nata morta. La coppia, cercando di superare il dolore, decide di adottare Esther, una bambina russa di 9 anni che ha la passione del disegno. Esther viveva in un orfanotrofio, diretto da suore. Suora Abigail riferisce che Esther è di origini russe e che era stata adottata da una famiglia americana, morta successivamente in un misterioso incendio. Giunta nella nuova abitazione, Esther sembra integrarsi bene con Max, la figlia sordomuta della coppia; con l’altro figlio, Danny, il rapporto è fin dall'inizio conflittuale. Esther, nei primi giorni della vita con la nuova famiglia, si dimostra educata e gentile, ma cominciano ad accadere alcune stranezze attorno a lei. Mentre Kate sistema dei vestiti nel cassetto di Esther, nota una bibbia scura, chiusa con un elastico; lei non lo apre, ma esce una foto di un uomo, che lei rimette subito a posto, pensando alla sua famiglia adottiva. Presentata ai nuovi compagni di scuola, Esther prende in antipatia Brenda, una bambina che la prende ripetutamente in giro. Nel frattempo il rapporto con la madre adottiva diviene teso: la bambina vede i "genitori" fare sesso in cucina, e quando la madre si appresta a spiegarle la cosa, Esther dimostra di sapere già tutto. Un pomeriggio, a scuola, Esther spinge Brenda giù da uno scivolo, rompendo una caviglia alla piccola; Max, pur avendo visto tutta la scena, viene convinta dalla sorella adottiva a coprirla, così dice che la bambina è semplicemente scivolata.
Qualche giorno dopo, nella casa arriva sorella Abigail, che porta delle novità: dopo aver indagato sul passato di Esther, scopre che alla bambina accadono sempre strani incidenti, come l'incendio in cui hanno perso la vita i primi genitori adottivi. Inoltre, sembrano non esserci tracce dell'orfanotrofio russo da cui Esther sembra provenire. Messi sul chi vive, Kate e John hanno reazioni diverse: il padre prende sottogamba la cosa, mentre Kate s'insospettisce sempre di più. Esther vede l’arrivo della suora come una minaccia e convince Max che quella donna è venuta solo per portarla via e, senza batter ciglio, organizza con la sorella un incidente alla suora, mandandola fuoristrada, prima di finirla a martellate. Il martello e i vestiti insanguinati vengono nascosti in una botola nella casetta sull’albero di Danny: Max non reagisce, soggiogata dalla personalità di Esther. Anche Danny viene minacciato da Esther, dopo aver visto le due scendere dalla casa sull'albero.
Kate insiste con John per portare la piccola dalla sua psichiatra: Esther riesce a convincere la dottoressa che il problema è della madre, che si sente "inadeguata" dopo la perdita di Jessica e dopo essersi avvicinata all'alcolismo. Tornati a casa, ricevono una chiamata da una delle suore dell’orfanotrofio che dice che Abigail non è tornata: il corpo della suora viene trovato dalla polizia. Nel frattempo in Kate sorge il dubbio che sia stata Esther ad ucciderla e comincia a cercare su internet i sintomi dei disturbi della personalità nei bambini.
Kate scopre anche l’orfanotrofio russo dove era stata accolta Esther, in realtà non l’ha mai ospitata. Le cose ben presto precipitano: il rapporto con John si fa più forte, con la madre Esther va volutamente allo scontro, esasperandola. Dopo un ennesimo incidente causato da Esther, in cui per poco Max non perde la vita, il padre prende le difese della bambina e si schiera contro la moglie. Mentre Danny è nella casa sull'albero, scopre dove è stato nascosto il martello, usato per uccidere la suora. Esther da fuoco alla casa;Danny riesce a mettersi in salvo cadendo dalla casa, ma rimane paralizzato alla schiena. In ospedale, Esther soffoca Danny con un cuscino, ma i medici riescono a rianimarlo. La madre se ne accorge e picchia la bambina, ma alcuni dottori la sedano e la portano via.

Plot

Kate Coleman (Vera Farmiga) and her husband John (Peter Sarsgaard) are experiencing strains in their marriage after Kate's third child was stillborn. The loss is particularly hard on Kate, who is also recovering from alcoholism. They adopt Esther (Isabelle Fuhrman), a 9-year-old Russian girl, from the local orphanage. While Kate and John's deaf daughter Max (Aryana Engineer) embraces Esther almost immediately, their son Daniel (Jimmy Bennett) is less welcoming.
Kate grows suspicious when Esther expresses far more knowledge of sex than would be expected of a child her age. She is further alarmed when Sister Abigail (C. C. H. Pounder), the head of the orphanage, comes to their home to warn her and John that whenever Esther is around, bad things seem to happen, which is overheard by Esther. As Sister Abigail is leaving in her car, Esther pushes Max into its path, forcing her to swerve the car off the road. As Sister Abigail rushes over to see if Max is hurt, Esther kills the nun with a hammer. She convinces Max to help her hide the weapon in their treehouse. Meanwhile, Kate fails in her attempts to convince John of Esther's strange ways. Attempting to find out more about Esther, Kate finds the girl's hidden Bible and discovers that it came from the Saarne Institute in Estonia, which she eventually learns is a mental hospital. She e-mails a picture of Esther to them and asks that a doctor call her back with more information.
Daniel learns about the death of Sister Abigail from Max. Esther overhears him detail a plan to retrieve the hammer to prove Esther's guilt. While Daniel searches the treehouse, Esther appears with the hammer and drops it in front of Daniel. Spraying lighter fluid on it and the floor, she sets the treehouse ablaze. Daniel falls to the ground trying to escape the fire, and is knocked unconscious. Esther attempts to kill him with a rock, but Max stops her. While Daniel is hospitalized from his fall, Esther slips into his room and smothers him with a pillow, stopping his heart, but doctors quickly revive him. Kate, realizing what happened, attacks Esther but orderlies help John restrain her. As John takes Esther and Max home, doctors sedate Kate.
That night, Esther tries to seduce a drunken John, who finally realizes Kate might have been right about her and threatens to send her back to the orphanage. Meanwhile, as Kate is coming out of sedation, she receives a call on her cell phone from a doctor at the Saarne Institute, who reveals that Esther is actually a 33-year-old woman named Leena Klammer. She has hypopituitarism, a condition that stunted her physical growth, and has spent most of her life posing as a little girl. The doctor tells Kate that Leena is extremely dangerous and has murdered a number of people in the past, including an entire family who had previously adopted her in Estonia, reportedly because the father rejected her romantic advances toward him.
Esther, angry and hurt at being spurned by John, ransacks her room. Then, after removing the makeup, false teeth and body wrappings that enhanced her illusion as youthful "Esther", Leena attacks John with a knife. Max sees Leena stabbing her father repeatedly and hides. Kate, unable to get John on the phone, rushes home, only to find John dead on the floor. Leena fetches a gun from their safe and shoots Kate in the arm before she goes to search for Max, finding her in the greenhouse. While Leena shoots at Max, Kate manages to crawl out onto the greenhouse roof, breaks through the glass above Leena, and lands on her, knocking her out. Kate takes the gun and leaves the greenhouse with Max.

Note

La vendetta degli orfani, horror di spessore prodotto, tra gli altri, da Leonardo Di Caprio, ottima regia e fantastico cast, soprattutto per quel che concerne i bambini.
Trama meticolosamente curata con nulla lasciato al caso, veramente un film mozzafiato.
1080p per un'ottima esperienza sia video che audio, godetevelo e rimanete in seed.

Grazie, si, la rel è una prima visione, appuarto insieme al coordinatore sel progetto prima visione e, la targfhetta, ne è la riprova.
E' stata gia rellata in altri formati in SD, per questo ho postato la mia in HD, in modo da dare piu scelta agli interessati.

Credo sia un buon horror, uno dei migliori degli ultimi anni, quantiomeno, originale, con una trama fuori dagli shemi.
In questo momento, siamo ancora in piena scia di Blearwitchproject, che, non è che sia malaccio come film, ma, sicuramente, efficace finchè non si scopre che non è un filmato amatoriale originale ma, al contrario, un film prodotto con tutti i crismi di una vero film. Dopo di che è uscito il 2, poi altri films simili tipo "Il IV tipo", o, adesso non mi viene il titolo, quello della ragazza posseduta ripresa dal suo fidanzato con la telecamera.
Non voglio criticare altri prodotti, ma, con questo, si ritorna alla vera forma dell'horror, un film come dovrebbe veramente essere.
